EASTER CONCERT – 8th April, 7pm

Tickets are selling well for the Easter concert. We’ll try and fit in anyone who turns up on the night – so please come along.  The music will be wide and varied, ranging from Baroque through to songs from the Shows.  The learners will celebrate their hard work this term with this performance – which will finish at approximately 8.15pm . The PTCA will be providing refreshments. All proceeds will go towards ensemble trips in the future.

Learners will be rehearsing during lessons 4 and lesson 5 on Tuesday.

Phantom Rehearsals

Rehearsals for the forthcoming school production re-commence on MONDAY 31st MARCH at 3.20pm.  All cast members are needed for this rehearsal. A reminder that the show will take place on 5th, 7th & 8th July.

The Music Department’s pre-Easter Concert will take place on TUESDAY 8th APRIL at 7pm in the Upper School Hall.  Learners will be given letters during rehearsals this week. Tickets (priced £3) are available from the Music department.

Seating is limited!  Items from the Choirs, Instrumental groups and soloists.

An addendum

I forgot to mention that the Senior Choir took part in the Holocaust Commemoration (to much acclaim on Twitter) and some of the choral scholars performed at a Rotary Club Dinner!

 

A quick review….

The music department has been very busy over the past half term. Audtions  have taken place for the school’s July production of “Phantom of the Opera” and Monday evening full-cast rehearsals are well under way.  There has been plenty of competition for the preliminary rounds of the School Eisteddfod.  Ben B and Christie B represented the school at the County rounds of the Rotary Young Musician (Ben came second in the instrumental class and Christie was highly commended).

The department hosted a Cluster String day on Wednesday 12th February. The string tutors worked with 40 young musicians and performed a short concert at the end of the day. Musicians from KH8 took part in a superb workshop with a string quartet from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.  It was wonderful to see our young string players swapping places with these talented music students to perform sections of a Mozart String Quartet.

No time to rest before half term – the finals of the School Eisteddfod take place on Thursday and Friday this week!

Rehearsal for Tenors/Basses

On Wednesday 29th January, the tenors and basses (and those who are nearly tenors) will rehearse items for the forthcoming Easter Concert (April 8th). Music by Tom Jones, Take That and some Gregorian Chant!  8.30am in the Ensemble Room.
